I love photography. This is a good thing since it’s how I’ve made a living since high school. Other than the odd retail job in my young years, photography has been my work and my passion (plus that one ill-fated job at the junk yard moving auto parts that lasted two weeks). But now I’ve gotten off tangent and you were asking about my background. Oh yeah. Back to my path in Cleveland wedding photography. I had a yearning to own a camera at a young age (12) although I was not sure why at the time. When I decided to buy one in high school my parents were worried I would spend my life savings ($300!) and get bored with it a few months later. But that did not prove to be.
As a photojournalist for multiple newspapers (as well as shooting assignments for magazines around the world and books) I’ve had so many great experiences and met so many interesting people over the years. I’ve been behinds the scenes, on the field, watched people enjoy the best and worst of times, succeed, fail, and live their lives.
How does this apply to Cleveland wedding and portrait photography? Good question. I always thought of wedding photography as boring photos of the couple posing for the photographer. Then a photojournalist friend suggested I would love what it had become and should try it. I went to a wedding and was excited about the images I captured. I was telling a story of the day-what my training had been honing for years. And it was a happy story that was important. The beginning of a new family. And portraits of the couple, their pregnancy, children that follow, parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles, you get the idea, are an important part of their history and I want to show that in an accurate and flattering way. Cleveland wedding photography is just one thing I do.
